1. Project Objectives

ETHICMATCH is a project which aims at supporting business co-operation in Europe and Asia between socially responsible SMEs operating in the whole child garment supply chain. A number of at least 400 enterprises, among Italian, Spanish, Indian and Pakistani SMEs, complying with working conditions codes of conduct, will be promoted through the Project Portal and other locally implemented activities. A selection of them (45 visiting and 60 hosting companies) will take part in a three-day physical business matching event. Project leader is the Consorzio Bimbo Italia joining, as partners, the Indo-Italian Chamber of Commerce, the Cámara Oficial de Comercio, Industria y Navegación de Valencia and the Women Empowerment Literacy and Development Organization (WELDO, Pakistan).

2. Main Activities

  1. Creation of ETHICMATCH Portal;

  2. SMEs recruitment in the countries involved;

  3. Social accountability and social auditing training for Partnership internal staff;

  4. Working conditions verification on candidate firms;

  5. Implementation of an enterprise Data Base and catalogue preparation;

  6. Technical assistance and matchmaking preparatory activities – including research of market opportunities in the garment supply chain -, active business partner research, physical matchmaking actions – including tailor-made meetings -;

  7. Participation to India International Garment Fair 2007;

  8. Follow up – including legal and contractual advisor consultancy;

  9. Project evaluation.

3. Milestones/Key Indicators

Main indicators could be the number of enterprises recruited and selected, number of enterprises that have visited ETHICMATCH portal, ETHICMATCH intranet section records, number of face-to-face meetings requirements gathered, number of inter-firm agreements signed, export trades of the involved companies,  number of Euro-Asian SMEs that have improved working place labour conditions, number of targeted technical assistance required by the companies to conclude a partnership agreement.
